Kivalina is a city in Northwest Arctic Borough, Alaska, United States. At the 2000 census the population was 377.

Kivalina is on the tip of an 12 km (8 mile) long barrier island located between the Chukchi Sea and a lagoon at the mouth of the Kivalina River.[6] It lies 130 km (80 miles) northwest of Kotzebue.According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.9 square miles (10.0 km²), of which, 1.9 square miles (4.8 km²) of it is land and 2.0 square miles (5.2 km²) of it (51.55%) is water.
