Transportation Libraries
Transportation Library, Northwestern University
Description: | One of the largest
transportation
libraries in the world, the Northwestern University
Transportation Library has collections on transportation
law enforcement and police management, and environmental
impact assessment. The transportation collection emphasizes
current socioeconomic aspects, particularly management,
operations, finance, planning, regulation and safety.
All transportation modes--air, rail, water, highway,
and pipeline--are represented; both U.S. and international
publications are collected. Other aspects, such as
technology and history, are covered selectively. The
law enforcement collection focuses on police administration
and training, and traffic law enforcement. The environmental
impact statement collection (ca. 52,000 volumes) includes
most of the EIS's prepared under the National Environmental
Policy Act of 1969. These resources support education
and research programs for Northwestern’s Transportation
Center, Center for Public Safety, Infrastructure Technology
Institute, faculty and students, as well as, the national
and worldwide transportation and law enforcement research
communities. |
